RULES AND REGULATIONS SPECIFIC TO SPECIAL EVENTS AT Gray Whale Cove State Beach:

1. The only available automobile parking is on the east side of Highway 1. Caution must be used in crossing to the ocean side of the highway. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. It is likely that parking may not be available in the parking lot on busy weekends. All vehicles must park in the designated parking lot. Note: Access to the beach is either down a steep stairway or a steep trail.


2. The park opens at 8:00 am. Set-up may begin when the park opens. The park closes at sunset. The area must be cleaned and vacated no later than sunset.

3. The maximum number attending the event is limited to 50.

4. No amplified music (including live bands or DJ’s) or microphones allowed. Small radios and non-amplified live music are allowed as long as the sound does not extend beyond the reserved area.

5. Decorations such as streamers and tablecloths must either be taped or tied in place. Balloons, rice or confetti, plants or flowers going to seed are not allowed. Natural resources (seaweed, logs, etc.) must not be moved or disturbed. The view of park signs must not be impeded. No nails, tacks, staples or fasteners of any kind that penetrate wood are permitted.

6. Set up of chairs, tables, etc., must not block public access to park areas.

7. Dogs and horses are not permitted.

8. It is not permissible to release butterflies (or any live insects), birds and other animals during a wedding ceremony or any other special event.

9. It is not permissible to discharge, dump or place any materials into the ocean.

10. Bonfires are not permitted on the beach.

11. There is no visitor motor vehicle access available inside the park.

12. A copy of your Permit must be available onsite for review.

13. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH PARK RULES and REGULATIONS WILL RESULT IN FORFEITURE OF SECURITY DEPOSIT.
